“Throw Some Bacon On It!” Maple & Bacon Scones

We’ve got “sleep eyes” and woke up thinking about bacon! The ultimate morning treat to wake up to. Thanks to the brilliant Donal Skehan, we’ve whipped up some AMAZING fluffy, savoury, salty and sweet Maple & Bacon Scones. Seriously, we love scones and we’ve blogged about scones before, but this might be our new go-to scone recipe. It’s so good and you’ll probably eat too many!

Bacon by Nick Jonas 


  • 250g of smoked cooked bacon, chopped
  • 450g all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 225g cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 180ml pure maple syrup
  • 180ml buttermilk
  • 1 egg (for an egg-wash)
  • Course sea salt to sprinkle
